This may have been the fastest week in history. That may have something to do with the fact that, this time next week, I’ll be moving my son into his college dorm room. (Sniff!)
Nevertheless, here is this week’s Five for Friday: five links to edifying, uplifting or amusing stories. Just enough to hold you over until Monday.
1. I missed Jon Stewart’s wrap-up of 16 years on “The Daily Show” while I was on the road last week, but to commemorate his departure—and to celebrate Stewart’s keen understanding of contemporary sexism—here’s a list of 11 Times Jon Stewart Threw Down for Feminism.
2. On the same subject, here’s a terrific article on subtle sexism in the workplace–also known as “sexism you can’t quite prove.”
3. Summer isn’t over yet–if you’re still looking for a book to round out the lazy days of reading season, here is The Huffington Post’s list of 21 Books From the Last 5 Years that Every Woman Should Read.
4. Speaking, again, on behalf of my fellow introverts, here are four things we really want you to understand. (I’ll be honest, number 4 brings up a whole host of painful memories.)
5. And finally–have you noticed that The Onion always gets it right? I dare you not to laugh out loud while reading this: Mom’s Fears About Daughter Leaving For College Channeled Into Fight About Storage Bins.
Happy weekend!
